Bedroom Makeover:
The Kelsey House Part 1
I’m so excited to share these rooms with you! These are one of my first clients, never mind the fact that it’s my parents house…. I was very thankful and grateful for the opportunity. Here’s what happened:
Bedroom 1
Top picture shows the red walls, Second picture is bedroom before decor.
When seeing the after, it’s hard to remember the red! The walls are painted Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray (SW 7043). It’s a soft neural gray with brown undertones that blends with all styles.
This 19th century sewing cabinet was pulled from the downstairs living area to double as a night stand (it still serves as sewing storage). A taller lamp was used to balance the low side table with the taller bed frame, and greenery was added for visual interest. Lamp purchased at Hobby Lobby, fig leaves purchased at Kirklands.
Simple bedding with only one decorative pillow keeps the space simple and clutter-free. Bedding and canvas wall hanging purchased at Homegoods.
This sewing machine cabinet was relocated to the bedroom from downstairs. The room is now multi-functional! A side note: when making a room multi-functional like this, don’t crowd the room with extra furniture. This bedroom still has a closet, so there is no need for a dresser. The basket and greenery were purchased at Homegoods.
Bedroom 2
Bedroom before decor. The previous wall color was a peachy-cream.
The walls in this room also painted Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray (SW 7043).
If you are staging a home, pick a color you love (that’s neutral) and use it for all the bedrooms. You can switch it up in the Master Bedroom, but remember, stay NEUTRAL.
Visual intrest was added to this glass lamp by placing a woven tray underneath. Baskets and lamps purchased at Homegoods.
Dark beige bedding was added to contrast the wall color. The furniture is dark brown wood, so adding black metal side tables breaks up the brown tones in the room. Bedding purchased at Homegoods, and pictures above the bed purchased at Kirklands.
Greenery is one of my favorite ways to add visual interest. Don’t crowd dressers or counter tops with clutter, put the clutter up and add one or two decorative elements to complete the look. Boxwood ball purchased at Homegoods, metal container purchased at Kirklands.
Shout out to my parents, they have graciously allowed me to makeover these rooms, since they have acquired their empty nest! I have such a passion for decorating and decor, and I thank my mom and dad for entrusting me completely with their home. We haven’t started our own home renovation yet, so this enabled me to get my shopping/ decorating fix! More rooms in the Kelsey House will be coming to the Blog at a later date, so stay tuned!
This “shop the post” is a list of similar decor you can use in your space! The item differ from the exact items used at The Kelsey House.

Love what you’ve done with bedroom 2. It’s simple but tranquil. The lamps really make the room and love the idea of putting them in the baskets. I like Bedroom 1 too but #2 has more appeal for me.
Thanks for sharing,
Elizabeth 🙂

Love the transformations! We are in the process of redecorating out home and we love the grey neutral walls that we added, similar to the ones you painted! I love how the greenery adds some color to the room! I think I might need to add some of that to my home! Great post!

I love this. As I’m looking at these beauties, I’m in my very junky room with no sheets or comforter on the bed and a pile of clothes on the floor. Ugggghhh!
