That First year seems to fly by, although at times it crept by slowly in a sleep-deprived slumber. Both my first and second babies seemed to turn one before I could blink, and I’m sure my third will follow suit. Planing that first birthday party is always so fun for me, because I get out my crafting DIY hat! In this post I will talk about the picture display I made for my son’s 1st birthday.

My husband is an engineer, and they receive shipments on pallets at his job all the time. I asked him to bring one home for me. If you don’t have this luxury, you can always ask your local hardware store for the pallets they are throwing away, or hit up Craigslist. Craigslist almost always has someone that is selling pallets pretty cheap. I use the pallet as is, no sanding or staining required. In fact the dirtier and more roughed up it is, the better in my eyes. Then I printed a ton of photos from my Walgreens app, so convenient! Do this step about a month a head of time, because you can get matte finish photos (they look better) and they will mail them to your house. NO TAKING KIDS TO THE STORE!!

I then used a staple gun to attach twine in a zig-zag pattern to the pallet from top to bottom. Pull the twine as tight as you can before stapling, that way the weight of the pictures won’t make the twine sag.

Then I simply hung the pictures from the twine with clothes pins. Anyone can do it!!
