Welp, this was not our week. Find out what happened and why we didn’t get anything done on our Jeffery Court Renovation Challenge.
I opened my email.
“Attention parents, a stomach bug has affected many students at school…”
Ohh no. Not right now. We cannot have this.
Sure enough, later that day, the oldest one started… a few days later, our middle child started.
When it rains it pours… that’s the motto of the week! With the kids needing extra love and cuddles, plus a few set backs on our interior renovation that we were dealing with, this was not our week to get a lot done.
That’s ok though! That’s just life sometimes! If we have learned anything at all in our renovation, it’s “let go, and let life happen”, ooh and one more (haha) “RENO happens”. (A little pun on phrases… haha) Laughter is what keeps us going sometimes.
I did get a HUGE exciting package in the mail to brighten my week!! All of my Jeffery Court Tile has arrived!! And, it’s beautiful!! I cannot wait to see it on the walls and floor!

So, what did get done on the garage mudroom this week?
We started replacing door trim to the laundry room door, and we are adding baseboards to match the interior. The door trim is solid pine 1×4 and the baseboards are solid pine 1×8. We will paint them to match the interior as well. Although the mudroom is in the garage, I wanted the space to really feel like it was part of the interior home.
We also took measurements and made plans for building a rustic stand for our huge vintage farmhouse sink and the concrete step under the laundry room door. We are having a great wood debate, cedar or pin?? I’m leaning towards cedar for the look, but pine is nicer on the budget!

The plumber came out and installed shut-off valves on the new plumbing, which we had roughed in last week, on the hot and cold stub outs.
Also on the to do list, that we didn’t get done this week, is the concrete step. We’ve already purchased the rebar, wood for the mold, and the concrete mix. I’m super excited to get that step in! Our littlest one has trouble getting through that door because his little legs are so short!
This week we need YOUR help!
